During the ages, nations were starting to devolpe new technology and were seeking new trade routes acrossed the Atlantic Oceans which led to new discoveries. With all the technology being created for the explorations acrossed the ocean, there had to be a way to somehow get the money for all of it to be created and accomplished. Not only did they want to discover new land, but also wanted to create colonies in the new lands. During the Commercial revolution, individual merchants pulled together to create a group called the "Joint-Stock Company" (The human Journey, 389) Which helped owners save up money. Owners earned money by selling shares and or stocks. Investors of the Joint Stock company would buy out stocks from the merchants to become a co owner. The investor and the merchant would then share the profit of that stock.
Banks began to store large amounts of money. Goverment and Businesses would put a loan into the bank to recieve money to go over seas. Coins were beginning to be produced with a fixed amount of value. The value of the coin was be determined on the amount of gold, silver, and over all trade value rose. This was the theory of Mercantilism. Mercantilism is
an economic system developing during the decline of feudalism to unify and increase the power and especially the monetary wealth of a nation by a strict governmental regulation of the entire national economy usually through policies designed to a favorable balance of trade, the development of agriculture and manufactures, and the establishment of foreign trading monopolies.With the help of mining this theory with stood. Creating colonies acrossed the Atlantic helped increase trading amoung other countries which brought in more money.
The Navigation Act was created by the English. It was a series of laws and trade created so that it limit colonial trade to only British(1) The only way for the colonies to trade with other countires was to send the goods to England then have them sell it and collect revenue from taxation
